JKT48

First Generation
JKT48 (read "J.K.T. Forty-eight") is an Indonesian idol group. It is the first AKB48 sister group outside of Japan, and it is based in Jakarta.[1] The group will adopt AKB48's "idols you can meet” concept, and its overall producer will also be Yasushi Akimoto.[2]

History

The formation of JKT48 was first announced on September 11, 2011 at an AKB48 event held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.[2] The interview for new applicants took place in late September, with the final audition for the finalist being held on October 8-9, 2011.[1]
The first generation members of the group was first revealed on November 3, 2011.[3] The 28 members include Rena Nozawa, a 13 years old Japanese who resides in Jakarta.[3] Producer Yasushi Akimoto said that JKT48 could become "a bridge between Indonesia and Japan".[3]
August 2012 JKT48 Operations Team announce about the audition for the 2nd Generation Kenkyusei. It is announced that there will be 3 stages for the audition. First is the application form and 2 rounds of sing and dance audition. On the 3rd stage Akimoto Yasushi announced through a VTR that the members from the auditionees that were selected are going to Japan for their final audition with the AKB48 Staff. The 31 girls who went to Japan for their luck passed the audition and now the 2nd generation consists of 31 members.
JKT48's official theater opened on September 8, 2012.
